Our 2023 contest window
February 15 — March 31 *

All submissions during our open reading period are considered for our Poetry and Story Awards. One poet and one writer (fiction, nonfiction, or graphic story) will be awarded a prize of $100 each and publication in our Fall 2023 issue. Winners will be announced by June 2023.

* Please submit early! We are a small editorial staff and reserve the right to close our window early if we meet our submission cap.

2023 Poetry Award

Poetry: Poems should be no longer than what would amount to one single-spaced page, around 25 lines. We want single-spaced formatting, unless you'd prefer the poem be presented with different spacing when published. You may submit up to two poems as separate documents.

2023 Story Award

Fiction/Nonfiction/Graphic Stories: We're looking for creative pieces (prose or graphic stories) no longer than 3,000 words, double-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman. For nonfiction, please attribute your sources where appropriate. Graphic stories should be no more than eight pages. Regardless of genre, you may submit only one story.

Please remove your name from your submitted document. Submissions are judged blindly. submit@maskslitmag.com

See our SUBMISSION GUIDELINES for more information.

Special congratulations to last year's winners!
